Please be careful when meeting someone if you are buying or selling something from Craigslist, an on-line garage sale site or any of those type of shopping resources. Danger could be lurking!
When a real estate agent asks you out for coffee or hot chocolate at a neighborhood coffee shop, they are doing so for safety reasons. Before meeting you at a house you may want to view or before going to your personal home to aid in preparing a comparative market analysis, most agents will request a meeting a public place. Please don't be offended.
The real estate profession is a dangerous job and we have to make sure we are practicing safety measures first and foremost. When you are looking at buying or selling items, please meet in a public place, bring a buddy, get an actual name and phone number - and double check it in various ways. When meeting an real estate agent, it is a good idea to practice those same rules. Safety has to be number one in any transaction that requires meeting up. So please be smart and safe!
